About to start in Wernberg-Köblitz: Worldwide unique battery recycling plant
ROTH International deals with difficult types of waste and nevertheless, or precisely because of this, is looking for the best possible recycling channels and application possibilities in order to be able to use waste sensibly again, in large quantities. For this purpose, we are active in diverse development projects
When recycling, it should be remembered that not only money is generated, but secondary raw materials can also be obtained from waste in the best possible way in order to conserve and save primary raw materials!
Resources/raw materials on Earth are finite. The "Earth Overshoot Day", the day of the year on which all renewable resources are used up, was already exceeded on July 28th in 2022. After that, we continue to live our consumption at the expense of the next generations. In 20 years, this "Earth Overshoot Day" will have advanced by two months. That is why recycling is more important than ever!
Our Aspiration
When recycling lithium-ion batteries, it should be important that the rare and high-quality metals are processed in such a way that they can be used again in lithium-ion battery (cell) production. These metals are not only high-quality and rare on Earth, but are also mined, e.g., cobalt under inhumane conditions in Central Africa, or lithium under great environmental damage in South America. These metals should also be secured for future cell production in Europe. Large production capacities are planned, especially in Germany.
"I want to solve problems instead of leaving them behind."
Michael Roth
"We have an obligation to handle these substances sustainably."
Daniel Hofsäß

Sustainability
Why waste valuable resources while polluting nature and the climate when there are solutions for recycling and reuse? We want to move away from the throwaway society towards a "zero waste" society in which all usable raw materials are returned to the economic cycle.
With our research and the development of new processes for the disposal of lithium batteries, ROTH makes an important contribution in the field of lithium recycling. For the love of the environment and because it just makes sense.
